Community Garden
Organic Practices
Our garden is founded on the principles of sustainable gardening, with a focus on companion planting, organic pest management practices, compost production, in ground worm farm, rain water harvesting and solar power generation. Our goal is to bring the community together to learn and share our knowledge and experiences in a safe and inclusive environment.
Companion Planting
We are planning our garden using companion planting method that will assist plants will assist each other in deterring pests, improving growth, enhancing flavour, attracting beneficial insects and improving nitrogen.
Organic Pest Management
We take the approach to eliminating pests using only products derived from natural (animal or vegetable) ingredients such as natural oils, minerals from the earth, and plants.
Compost Production
We are decomposing plant, food waste and recycling organic materials from the garden. Creating organic matters that has beneficial organisms, such as bacteria, protozoa, nematodes, and fungi. Use them as fertiliser to all garden beds.
In Ground Worm Farm
We use an in-ground compost system called Subpod worm farm. Compost worms and microbes live inside Subpod and turn all the materials we feed them (food scraps, leafs, paper, coconut peat) into rich compost. Over time, nutrients from the compost will feed our garden soil and help the plants thrive.
Rain Water Harvesting
We collect and store rainwater to water some of our garden beds and pot plants.
Solar Power
We have installed solar panels on top of the Pergola, it generates power for our security cameras. Members can also charge their phones or boil water to make a cup of tea or coffee while working onsite.
